Abstract

|
A fluorimetric assay has been designed for the screening of microorganisms with chitin deacetylase activity. The method is based on the multi-enzyme test for acetate previously described by Bergmeyer [1] and has been modified to detect as low as 1 nmol acetate. The method allows for an efficient assay of a large number of samples using a small reaction volume.
